  It is a Cartesian plane: the abscissas are parallel to the eastern hills, the ordinates are perpendicular.

  Manzana and Lote most of the time correspond to newish developments or informal ones, sometime in the near future they will be assigned a proper direction.

  Además del sistema de direcciones que hablaste en el video, también tenemos una lógica parecida con el Sistema de Rutas Nacionales, más o menos sigue el de las Interestatales de Estados Unidos. Las rutas pares son perpendiculares a las impares. Por ejemplo, La Ruta 40 es la que cubre la vía Bogotá - Ibagué - La Línea - Armenia y va perpendicular a la ruta 45 que comienza en el sur del país en La Hormiga, Putumayo y termina en Santa Marta, Magdalena. Las Rutas Nacionales están divididas en tramos de una longitud máxima de 150 km. También como en Estados Unidos, tenemos los "Mile markers" pero acá los llamamos Puntos de Referencia o Pr, están separados cada 1 km e indican el km en el que estamos ubicado dentro de la Ruta Nacional. Los Pr incrementan su numeración de Sur a Norte y de Oeste a Este. Por ejemplo si vemos el Pr 64 5008, significa que estamos en el Km 64 del tramo 08 de la Ruta Nacional 50, este tramo comienza en Honda, Tolima y termina en el Pr 145 en la entrada a Bogotá por la Calle 80.

  Hey Matt! I really enjoy your videos and never miss one. Great effort decoding our address system! I just want to point out two technical details from a local&apos;s perspective:<br><br>1. BIS vs Letters: It&apos;s a hierarchy. If a new street appears between Calle 72 and 73, it becomes Calle 72A, 72B, etc. But if later on, another smaller street is built between 72A and 72B, it inherits the previous name and adds &quot;bis&quot;, becoming Calle 72A bis. <br><br>2. Sur/Este Suffix: The cardinal suffix (Sur/Este) ALWAYS modifies the Calle/Carrera, NEVER the final door number. At <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoQm-HO3tEc&amp;t=1342">22:22</a>, the correct format is &apos;Carrera 30 # 45 Sur - 12&apos;, rather than &apos;... 12 Sur&apos;. The 12 represents meters down the block, so it doesn&apos;t take a compass direction.<br><br>Keep up the fantastic work!

  When I moved to the US (Florida) I was lost. I did not have mountains to tell East from West.

  Planning on moving there with my Columbian woman who grew up there, she is here in the states with me. Thanks for all the knowledge you are putting out! Yes! She is teaching me Spainish!

  I just spent 5 weeks in Colombia; Bogota, Ibagué, Pereira and Medellin; I love it. &nbsp;I traveled by bus so I could see the country up close. &nbsp;It is live action MarioKart. &nbsp;Getting around the cities was simple using Apps. &nbsp;However; I suffered a bit getting the rides from the actual terminals as the pick-up points were outside the terminal. &nbsp;In those cases I got a taxi from the official taxi stand or kiosk but I only had the address: I didn&apos;t know how to get there. &nbsp; In my ignorance of the address system &nbsp;I set it up on my phone with google maps, Then I held the phone for the driver to see the directions. &nbsp; Usually they just wanted the address but again I didn&apos;t understand that that was all they needed. &nbsp;Thanks for the info Matt, &nbsp;I used a lot of your tips while I was there.
