  Use swivel base chairs so people can turn to watch the TV, but then swivel them back to join the conversation.

  I extended my window curtains (ceiling to floor) onto the wall by the window, and mounted the TV on that wall beside the window. When not in use, the TV gets hidden behind the curtains for a clean, people-focused feel. And it just looks like I have a super wide window.

  I have an accent wall in every room of my home. These walls are all dark, rich colors. I love it.

  A lot of the light examples at the start look really dark. I like cosy as much as the next person but I hate dark rooms unless I specifically dimmed the lights to watch a movie

  I just happened upon your video, and I truly enjoyed your refreshing approach.  I definitely love your “Shop in your Own Home” concept among your all your concepts and tips.  And you’re right, marketing has convinced people that they need to buy junk throw away furniture they don’t actually need in order to keep the hamster wheel churning out more discardable junk that ends up in landfills.

  Those window "protectors" that you mention are called storm windows, and I have them, too. I take them off about every year or two, so that I can clean the back side of the storm windows and the other side of the window glass, usually in spring when I'm itching for some "outdoors",  and then put them I back on.. It really brightens up the rooms!
