I’m a married limerent. I eventually told my husband. I struggled with guilt and shame. I told my husband that I don’t want to start an affair with LO. The obsession and infatuation was intense but I tried to manage it. Thankfully my husband has been supportive and understanding.

This is so on the nose i'm wondering if you know my life. I have gone through stages of devaluing my marriage over a fantasy. I'm trying to pull myself out of the limerence but there is much work to do on my marriage by both of us, and the limerence is like some sort of alluring siren trying to dash us onto the rocks.

I survived my midlife crisis and limerence, unfortunately my wife of 17 years did not survive her's. Great video.

My wife walked right by my side during this experience. I also chose to go to counseling at the time. All of it collectively help me battle the limerence. I ended up confessing to my lo. I needed to end the uncertainty in my head once in for all. She ended up putting a protection order on me. I was crushed. At the time, I didnt understand it after months of processing this with a sober mind, i understand why she did and i honestly dont blame her. I feel so much guilt and shame everyday. I haven't seen her 5 months, i am limerent free and my wife and i are in love more than ever before. It was a life changing experience but it had a price to pay.

Thank you! One of the best explanations I’ve ever heard, especially outlining the indicators for optimism and pessimism.

I’m married and my LO takes place all in my head because they are married as am I. It’s still hard on my marriage though. This is not just lust because I become Limerence with any any person of the opposite sex, who shows me kindness due to childhood trauma.

Just read your list of 'causes for optimism' and felt a surge of hope when I realised my husband has been doing most of those things. Maybe my marriage can be saved. I hope so.

After 38 years with my husband I ended up making the decision for his repeated limerence for others during our marriage. I tried to discuss and forgive him but ultimately decided I was not being given the value o deserved and now have separated with him but still maintain a friendship, family, and work environment. Basically I'm moving on but holding together the children and our businesses.

My husband has never found out about my limerence. I've been very deliberate about that, due to the shame and embarrassment of it all, but also the fear of what he would feel and how he would react if he found out.. oddly, I've only experienced limerence since being married. Not sure what that is about. Also doesn't help that my husband has cuckolding/cheating fantasies. I guess that's how I convicne myself that what I'm doing isn't "that bad", although the guilt catches up anyway. And the whole thing does create a wedge, no doubt about it.
