  We visited LVNP in 2022 and had a wonderful time feeling like we were in Yellowstone without dealing with Yellowstone crowds. &nbsp;Also, we stayed at Summit Lake campground and they had had to cut down a tree due to fire damage but it was fresh enough that my son could count the rings. &nbsp;It took him awhile. &nbsp;He reported 359 rings. &nbsp;That tree was already old when America was born.<br>Also, my 8yo climbed Lassen with me and I was super proud of him!

  I feel like Lassen is actually a really great secret. It&apos;s such a lovely slice of northern California nature, and in some ways, the Dixie Fire burn scar only adds to the rough volcanic landscape.

  I love Lassen! It&apos;s my favorite park to hike and camp at. With the exception of some holiday weekends, the park is never busy or crowded. It&apos;s very peaceful and quiet.

  You can buy cuts of beef, cut them in into jerky sized pieces (or whatever shape you want,) marinate them, and dry them in the over at 200 (or lower if your oven will do it.) That will give you jerky for whatever flavor profile you want.

  I feel like the issue with lassen is that it is overshadowed by parks frequently considered better in just about every direction. In the south is of course Yosemite, West has Redwoods NPs, and north has Crater Lake. Additionally, it is more convenient to go to any of the listed National parks from all the major nearby airports, except for Redding, and even that is kind of debatable.

  The grow back from a fire can be truly beautiful but it takes a fees years to really hit. But as a person who has lived in wildfire country for many years now there will be gorgeous life again.
