  Things I wish I knew sooner: You have to toggle on Courier to run, the button&apos;s in the option menu. You can break the chests in the mines for a free plank. You can ask Kai is he&apos;s seen any critters today and he&apos;ll let you know if any have spawned and where they are.<br><br>Something I didn&apos;t pay attention to is that because the shops inventories get refreshed every Sunday it&apos;s a good idea to buy up all the food items Friday/Saturday and any resources you can use. Money&apos;s probably the easiest resource to obtain. Also you can buy 1 fish trap from the fishing store every week for 200 which is cheaper than the resources used to make it.

  Early game tip: you don&apos;t have to forage every single day, many forageables last a few days and some take quite a few to even harvest; seeding and fruiting trees can hold roughly 5 items, in my experience, so make it a weekly thing! That being said, berry bushes don&apos;t stack, but take a few days to recharge, so make sure you&apos;re grabbing those. On the same topic, I&apos;d use the fruit you get to make juice, to then make vinegar; I ran out early Fall and could barely keep up in preserving my veggies, so convert, and convert fast!

  Not relevant until you actually get the fermentation barrel:<br>During the second pirate&apos;s ration on my challenge run I had an epiphany. I hated these guys.<br>The game explicitly tells you that the defender&apos;s ration prioritizes taking preserved foods. But there is no benefit to giving them your preserves. They&apos;ll take your unprocessed, nearly spoiled goods just the same.<br>So I stocked the root cellar as normal until Sunday, wherein I would go through the cellar and swap out as much pickled, honeyed or salted goods I could with smoked, dried, or better yet, non-preserved foods. And if I was over the quota, I&apos;d remove as much dried and fermented food I could until only the bare minimum for the quota was met. On Monday, I&apos;d put it all back in the root cellar to give myself a buffer on what I needed to produce that week. Then next Sunday, I&apos;d repeat.<br>Another thing to note is that dried food has a much longer spoilage time than smoked food, but dried and smoked foods can still be fermented if you don&apos;t have enough barrels to process what you have immediately. So there&apos;s no downside to drying anyhow, aside from forgetting the spoilage time during a few consecutive rainy days.<br><br>Also Percy will tell you tomorrow&apos;s weather forecast if you keep talking to him. This is super useful for upgrading your watering can. Tools only take two days to upgrade, so the only day you&apos;re unable to water is the day after you buy the upgrade from Gruff, even if you asked him at 9:30PM in the tavern.<br><br>Also save your spoiled mush--it took me a while to realize, but fish chum spawns a new fish in front of you every time it&apos;s used, and currently all chum recipes use mush as an ingredient. Chum was so useful to my challenge run that I bought out Greta and Wilfred&apos;s stock every week.<br><br>And last tip I&apos;d give is you can freely chop down all trees outside your farm and they&apos;ll grow back in 20 days so long as you remove the stump. Fruit trees almost always drop their seed when felled, so it&apos;s an easy way to get lots of fruit so long as you leave the trees intact for their corresponding season. But even with the village supplying all the trees you need, you should still plant all the maple and acorn trees you can just to have plenty of seeds later. Tree seeds never spoil, and their calorie count can be improved with the press for free. Tree nuts are more or less essential to fulfilling the final siege stockpile on Grim and Challenge difficulty.

  One interesting benefit of the seed saver perk is that everytime you harvest hay, it rolls for the chance to drop hay grass seeds, so if you want to do a lot of animal husbandry, you can quickly get a ton of hay grass by buying it for the first 2-3 weeks and then passivly growing it with the seed saver perk.

  Huh, i know about the save and quit &nbsp;method but i never knew about the help im stuck option. thanks.<br><br>heres a tip on finding the items that is about to spoil in the root cellar. Press sort button and it will show the earliest spoiled food at the begining to the longest spoil time at the end.<br><br>presonally i think you should get the axe and the pickaxe options first as axe upgrade reduce the amount of time you need to get the logs which will be important once you unlock the kiln upgrade. charcoal is twice as effective as coal so make multiple of them. I choose to make 6 and it has make smelting very easy

  I use lost and found to gather stuff that I find in the mines. It’s really nice to give you an extra few storage places.

  Useful thing to keep in mind.<br><br>You can upgrade your fishing rod at the same time as a different tools since they are handled by two different characters.

  My tip is to not have a gate for your animals at all. Instead, go to a part of the fenced area where the fence and barn touch, then press against the barn and you&apos;ll walk through. This trick saved me time, resources, and risk of letting my critters out.

  Lol in my opinion the scythe is really important because I have a lot of hay to collect. Also, a tip that I used a lot, the red food can be eaten by the townsfolk before it expires, if you just let the minimum necessary for it

  A good tip before the food turns to mush: if you can&apos;t eat it right away or sell it, put it in the compost. The quantity of compost drastically goes up compared to mush :3

  The game is so underrated! Thank you for making content for it! I am almost finished with my second playthrough and preparing for my first full Grim difficulty game. So I love getting more tips and tricks to hopefully make the best of it.
