I work in a hospital and each month I have to call those with Advantage to discuss their bills as they are very high when they thought it would be very cheap. We live in a rural area and advantage pays very little. We take all of the plans but Ambetter. I am dealing with a senior right now with a bill over $3000 and this is only for one stay and she has had 2 others on top of that. Plan G I never have to call as they have the $257 out of pocket and then 100% paid. No prior authorizations and when a person falls and needs a CT scan and we have to wait for authorization that is ridiculous. This is really sad for the seniors and right now so much is being cut from Advantage plans especially in rural America. Don't blame Doctors for denials as that is not true very often.

There's no doubt that traditional Medicare with a plan G supplement is a no brainer IF you have the money and that's a huge IF. But the bottom line on all of this is in the richest country in the world it shouldn't be THIS COMPLICATED and exclusionary. We give away billions of dollars to other countries but force our own into substandard plans.

The scary thing about Medigap policies is that the Premium keeps going up with age and may become unaffordable. Scary thing about Medicare Advantage programs is : Your plan might be unavailable next year. Your plan or other plans available could have or go to very high maximum out of pocket expenses. If you develop certain illnesses, you may have an extremely tough or impossible experience of going to a Medigap policy. There needs to be clarity and stability to our Medicare coverage instead of continuously rising costs, complexity of plans.

He didn't mention that prior authorizations can take a lot of time and sometimes you don't have that time.

The entire health insurance situation is awful. They just keep coming up with way to take back your money whether its a disadvantage plan or higher premiums for medicare bc you save your whole life. Its assinine what this country is doing to its citizens and NOT doing for them as well. This country and its current leaders have let people down bigtime. Ps- sorry dor all typos. Fixed.

Look at the actual costs on Advantage Plans. Always have a PPO in rural areas and you can have an HMO in major metro areas. Most people never reach their out of pocket in a given year with Advantage Plans. If you have an Advantage Plan, purchase a low cost Hospital Indemnity plan to help cover your out of pocket max.

What good is a plan that covers docs, but when I call to make an appointment, I hear that they are not accepting new patients. Or if they do accept new patients, the appointment ends up being 4 months out!
