  I like base-building, but I LOVE base hunting. &nbsp; I am always on the lookout for interesting locations, unusually placed assets, and beautiful scenic views. &nbsp;<br><br>Whenever I start a new world with friends. I immediately explore as much as I can and usually get my running skill up to 100 before fighting Bonemass.

  Peak of the tallest mountain is where we chose to put our Portal Nexus Tower years ago, it was incredible. Going to have to do that again in 1.0!

  I love building massive castles at the top of the mountains--love the snow biome. I also use the Elder base to make a massive fortress. Will look of Wand but I just tend to build in debugmode and fly when I&apos;m working on a massive structure.

  Base building is <b>THE</b> driving force behind my incessant restarts. I&apos;m never satisfied and love and hate so many aspects of any location and build style. I bet finally arriving at the &quot;perfect&quot; set up will feel like Morty did experiencing true level.

  At this stage I look for four locations.<br>The first is a starter base in the meadows, in a stone circle and preferably near to spawn so I can use it to get back to swap forsaken powers quickly. I normally stay here through to the plains as the only real reason to leave is the farming restriction on Flax &amp; Barley.<br>Next is Plains, I typically look for a plains island for the same reason the meadows island was mentioned here. Plains islands however commonly have a lot of shallows which can be raised to give additional land mass which I use to make farms or space for a portal hub.<br>For Mistlands I look around the Queen dungeons, they are pre-built areas with a cellar that can be easily fortified. Digging down you can also remove the floor to create more space that is practically impenetrable to all mobs.<br>For Ashlands it has to be the fortresses, by their nature they are the only real secure structure as Lava Blobs can destroy terrain ruining the previously impenetrable raised earth wall tactic.

  I always make a portal and storage hub underneath the Elder spawn point. &nbsp;Very secure, can safely hold a ton of portals.

  The hilarity of the Ashlands Fortresses&apos;s greatest Nemesis being... Wood. :P<br><br>Taking over a Fortress sounds so Viking... now that I know such a thing is doable within the Game Mechanics, I totally have to try that in my Playthrough when I get to that point eventually. :D

  I only ever build in the Meadows. &nbsp;I know I should do a Plains base eventually, but I refuse. &nbsp;It&apos;s meadows only, forever.

  IDK if its any taller than the mountains in the video, but on this seed: PS6N8E9buF, there&apos;s a mountain biome in the southwest of the map that is VERY tall and has both Moder and a howling cavern on it. From what i can tell its measured at a height of 468? In my playthrough I used it as our portal hub bc of the scenic view.
