I just released, what I dubbed the AliExpress version 4.0.1A of the pcb today. I swapped out all the small power components for some pcb modules sold on AliExpress to make the soldering easier... This is now an option for anyone who wants something easier to solder.

It's great that you show all the SMD soldering stuff. It's refreshing honesty not always present on YouTube. I would recommend everyone that's soldered a bunch of through-hole in the past to get started with SMD too. It is a different type of challenge, but very rewarding in the end, and I found that the focus on technique also makes me better at soldering through-hole afterwards.

Knife edge tip in smallest of the modern Ali soldering handles is totally the way forwards - the new irons are game changing imo in terms of their ability to supply heat and the accuracy of the tips.

Of all the ways to solder stuff, that was certainly one of them. 😂

I love when some projects give you the through hole option board or the surface mount. I'm rubbish at surface mount too lol..

I think you did well mate, micro smd work is like juggling ferrets even seasoned folks get bit from time to time but the more you do the better you get.

I find it strange that anyone would design a board with such small components at a minimal distance when there is so much space available...
