  I went to Disneyland last week with my grandson for the time in 40 years. We used the single rider line at Radiator Springs Racers six times in a row, and each time my grandson and I ended up racing each other.

  Once while having a late afternoon snack, four younger feral cats (maybe 6 months old) played in some flowers under a nearby tree. They were absolutely beautiful - orange cats with turquoise blue eyes. All of them.  They weren’t afraid of us, but stayed to themselves with a bit of curiosity as to who we were.  I wanted all of them!!

  TIP: bring a dollar store plastic rain poncho and hit Splash Mountain/Tiana&apos;s (or Grizzly Rapids) right after rope drop; most guests are avoiding it then because they don’t want to get wet in the morning chill, but when we go there first, we often see nobody ahead of us in line, get right on, have fun and stay nice and dry in our $1 ponchos…and the cast members ask us if we’d like to go around again because there’s <b>still</b> nobody in line and they want to attract more guests by having us holler all the way down the drop ;-)

  Former cast member here... &apos;77-&apos;85. &nbsp;The naming of Club 33 is only peripheral naming to it address in N.O. Square. &nbsp;When Walt Disney envisioned the rides and attractions in the Magic Kingdom he knew that there was no way he could fund everything himself, so he sold sponsorships. &nbsp; The monorail system was designed by the Alweg Corporation, a German company that pioneered straddle- beam monorail systems. &nbsp;They help fund the monorail which is why it was opened as the &quot;Disneyland Alweg Monorail.&quot; &nbsp;Monsanto (the Missouri based chemical company) paid to have it&apos;s name on the &quot;Monsanto Adventure Through Innerspace.&quot; &nbsp;That attraction closed in 1985 and I think it is now &quot;Star Tours.&quot; &nbsp;The Carnation Kitchen on Main Street was sponsored by the Carnation Foods, and so on. &nbsp;Orginally there were 33 of these initial corporate investors. &nbsp;Walt wanted a location within the park where he could entertain the exectuives and VIP&apos;s of those companies without having to leave the park. &nbsp;He could show them the progress and what their money was funding and then take them to the members only club for drinks and dinner. &nbsp;It opened as the only place in Disneyland that provided alcohol and I believe it still is the only location that serves alcohol. &nbsp;It was said that Disney got the idea for corporate sponsorship from the VIP sponsorship lounges at the 1964 NYC World&apos;s Fair. &nbsp;Disney execs publically deny the reason for the naming but when I worked there it was confirmed in some of the meetings I attended.<br>PS: &nbsp;No mention of forced perspective architecture on Main Street?

  I always say thank you to Walt when I leave Disneyland at the end of my day. I look up at the lamp, and hope Walt is somewhere smiling at his wonderful creation.

  Another Rope Drop Tip: Plan to arrive at the parking structure promptly by 6am, when it opens. You&apos;ll be at the front of the line for the 7am parking gate opening... AND, the traditional honking parade minutes prior to opening. <br><br>That positions you to park first, and get on the first tram out.

  The only thing I didn&apos;t know for sure was that they are &quot;fixing&quot; the cats. Of course I hoped that was true, but I didn&apos;t know.

  My dad was a 33rd Degree Mason. Walt started in the DeMolay, and my son was in DeMolay. I have a photo of my son &nbsp;at 17, when he spontaneously kneeled a d showed the DeMolay salute of respect. The numberc33 means the highest degree of honor.

  Rope drop tip: Go all the way to the back of the park as soon as they drop the rope. &nbsp;People tend to stop at the first thing they pass that interests them. &nbsp;If you make a beeline for the back of the park, you&apos;ll have it nearly to yourself until those people work their way deeper into the park.

  Found a hidden Mickey that was in Swiss Family Treehouse that could only be seen by raising a camera up so it could see over the top of the facade of one of the rooms to view some trunks. There was a leather mickey behind the central clasp of the trunk. &nbsp;It’s gone now, but there’s a pic on the hidden mickey page in the yesteryear section.
