Living in the U.S. is just plain exhausting. Everyone and every organization has their hands in our pocket in one way or another. We can't even retire in peace. Inflation is eating us alive, but somehow the government still has money for endless wars and endless financial aid to other countries. The financial aid may be less under the Trump administration, but it still continues. I guess I'll go with a high deductible plan G since that appears to show lower price increases over time and I can manage the higher deductible if something catastrophic were to happen.

Green. I turned 65 not quite 2 years ago and my Mutual of Omaha Plan G monthly premium went from $109.47 my first year to $131.37 this year to $157.64 for 2027. That's almost a 50% increase in 2 years, but is still a deal compared to our previous employer-supplemented plan for my husband and I where we paid more than $1400 a month for both of us. The whole health insurance world is a racket. It's a big business.

This just makes me GREEN with how sickening it all is. 🤢 The only real fix is to completely tear down and rebuild the US Medical system. Healthcare should be a RIGHT. It's often the case with a Plan G at age 65, the premium doesn't sound TOO bad, even though adding Part D and dental brings that even higher as an overall premium load...But when it goes up so exponentially year over year over year (and it does!) what's a person to do? Argh. --Pete

The American health care system is indefensible. It is awful. The primary goal is to make money. This is wrong. Of the 33 largest economies in world, ours is the only one that is this convoluted and ineffective. Shame on all us USA for tolerating this inhumane system.

If I cry about increases, will it do any good?
NO... Because I don't have the funds to lobby Washington, like the insurance industry does.

Great explanation about supplement plan increases. My wife and I started out on Plan F and 7-ish years ago we switched to N from a different carrier. Totally agree with your explanation of the problem of low cost teaser rate trap. We had no problem with passing medical underwriting. Your explanation of issues with medical underwriting was right on. As geezers most of us have managed conditions so the issue is if you have something that is likely to get expensive in the future. Bottom line switch early in retirement while you are relatively healthy. For us our Supplement premium is still lower then the last year on F, both were from main stream carriers that had been in the Supplement biz for years.

I agree the US health care system is broken and has too many moving parts, it shifts too much risk and cost to individuals.

Driving us all to advantage plans, that’s the idea. Very nice of you to wear the green band for your child’s team.
