As a young kid we used to play in woodhams scrap yard in Barry we were amazed by how big the engines were and there were a great deal of them.

That looks like a good operation that they've got going there.

My father was responsible for securing the site at East Grinstead with BR Waterloo. If it wasn't for what he did, there would be a supermarket across the entire site and no Bluebell station. As a professional permanent way engineer, he also designed the permanent way alignment north of Horsted Keynes.

Linking up with the mainline at Haywards Heath via Ardingly would be amazing! Whenever there’s engineering work on the Brighton mainline trains could divert via the Bluebell and East Grinstead! That’d be awesome! Obviously, they’d have to have diesel pilot where it’s not electrified; or even a steam pilot! 😲😆😜

Excellent documentary: a story superbly told and beautifully filmed and edited. I'm so pleased the Bluebell proved me wrong and drove onwards to East Grinstead. I confess I was one of the doubters in the late 1970s and even wrote a Comment piece in the local newspaper doubting the plans for extending from Horsted Keynes. I'm delighted to have been proved spectacularly wrong, and laud the determination of the Bluebell professionals!

Back in the 90s myself and a friend tried to find the link junction from Lewes. Then we went through the back of a car park of a builders and DIY centre. In the bit of scrub land at back of car park no access due barbed wire and security fence but behind fence among undergrowth on a piece of rail a very broken metal LB&SC railway marker. Much nettle rash and cut hands no pictures sorry. My friend was living at Chailey at the time.

Talking about dumping rubbish in the line the same happened with the grand union canal, which later had to be removed.
