  I always thought the reason why hotel rooms are so comfortable is because you don&apos;t have to do anything. I can&apos;t remember who said it, but it was something to the effect of, &nbsp;you can never really relax at home because everywhere you look you see something that needs to be done. &nbsp;I cleaned my office yesterday and I just looked up to see a spider has built a web from the smoke detector to the wall. The breakfast dishes need to be done. I need to move the clothes from the washer to the dryer. <br>Any deisgn looks good when you aren&apos;t the one responsible for cleaning it.

  I&apos;m trying to remodel my apartment, and watching this has made me realize the following: I need an excuse to visit my favourite hostel in Utrecht again to try to put a finger on why I love the common space so much :)

  Pick timeless design for your home and execute it once and for all. He said himself: hotels renovate every 5 to 7 years. Nothing about that is realistic for a home that you plan to live in for a couple decades or more.

  The lesson I&apos;m getting specially from this video but also from many of your previous ones and that of your colleagues is: you&apos;ll never be ahead of the curve because individuals are not trendsetters, we&apos;re followers. So instead, follow the basic rules of design, like color combination or the rule of odd numbers. Be at least somewhat cohesive with your objects (furniture, rugs, art, etc.) and do it while picking stuff you consider beautiful, or means something to you and you&apos;ll enjoy your space.

  The great thing about this is there&apos;s only so many fashions and trends, so if you just pick one and wait long enough, you&apos;ll eventually be so ahead of the curve, you&apos;ll even beat the hotels to it. LOL
