I worked in housekeeping for 25 years. Once you get your routine down it goes pretty quick. The last Motel I worked at I was there 18 years became the head housekeeper. Had to train the girls and had to inspect all the rooms when the housekeeper got done cleaning them. I'm proud to say we won awards for clean rooms

I always leave the hotel room neat. Put all the towels, wash clothes piled together, trash in the trash can, etc. Just because it isn’t your room doesn’t mean you have to be a pig.

Having a decluttered home is the key to efficient cleaning

I think it’s quicker to clean a hotel/hospital room since there’s no clutter. The maids don’t need to clean around things. They literally discard everything.

The most common ghosts are the visions dressed in white sheets with flailing arms. These are people who died while changing their duvet covers. They roam bedrooms forever, trying to find the corners.

As someone who cleaned condos, I assure you, it's a 80 percent speed and 20 percent routine. I got screamed at for being slow yet, I was one of the housekeepers that didn't have to go back and retouch or add something that was forgotten. These people break their bodies, rushing through the cleaning process. The system does help and having a cart and whatnot helps, but at the end of the day you can't really compare cleaning a barebones room over cleaning a lived in house. It's also a different mindset. Learning these techniques will help speed things along, you just gotta figure out what works for your individual cleaning style and home.

I leave a hotel room in a tidy condition to help the cleaners. And have some pride as a good guest. It’s not your home, so be a considerate guest.

I cleaned houses professionally for 10 years in my younger days and I used Jeff Cambell's Speed Cleaning Method. Don't waste your time with multi-colored towels. Unless you are washing them separately, what's the point? And, frankly, it's not necessary. I would buy white terry cloth rags in bulk at Costco and they got used for everything except the glass and mirrors. I bought linen kitchen towels for the glass and mirrors since they are lint free. Nowadays, I use microfiber towels for the mirrors and glass. I bought two different brands of 13 gallon white trash bags, making sure that the drawstring of one brand was a different color from the other brand. I used one drawstring color bag for the clean rags and the other color for the dirty rags so that I wouldn't accidently drop a dirty rag in with the clean rags and contaminate them. After cleaning the toilet or any other germy place, the rag goes immediately into the dirty rag bag. I cleaned no more than two houses a day. At the end of the day, the dirty rags get washed all together in very hot water.

I had an aunt who was a hotel cleaner. Whenever she came to spend the weekends with us, she used to clean up and set up our house, and it always felt like a hotel

sorry one more thing, as person who cleans every week, and I saw from professional cleaner's vlog: I always wipe off before spraying with cleaners. Dust makes extra wiping when sprayed.
