  Bronze axes, swords, and spear tips would have been the top scavenged items from the battlefield.

  The victors possibly picked up the most valuable and visible stuff, hence few swords, spearheads, axeheads etc.<br>They were seen, and carried away.<br>Arrowheads hard to take out in bodies, hence number.

  If bows were so important in battle (as well as in daily life, i.e hunting), I find it to be completely logical that any surviving bows were also looted after the battle. &nbsp;Hence no bows being found. &nbsp;Further, if the bodies and debris from the battle were just tossed into a river, the bows would have floated far farther down stream than would the bones/bodies and bronze bits and pieces.

  When it comes to Late Bronze Age, the Gundlingen Sword was a heavy cutter. Their edges were cold-hammered; making them more resilient to shattering from direct blade contact. They have actual wear marks that indicate they were highly used for regional combat styles.

  This makes me think about a video of a conflict in Papua New Guinea &nbsp;between two tribal groups, armed primarily with bows and arrows (&quot;1963 Papua New Guinea tribal combat footage&quot;). &nbsp; Ranged weapons like bows (and thrown spears) are dominant, despite availability of thrusting spears and clubs, and much of the combat is essentially an extended skirmish versus a pitched battle. &nbsp;I wonder if the same principle prevailed in Tollense as well?
