Just went to the new store today. The plant and scaping section is really good my 7 year old was even looking for hard scape. I'll have to go on a Friday or Saturday to see the full selection. Great video

I'm a beginner started about 5mths ago and didn't believe live plants were necessary. I cycled my first 20L tank for 3 weeks then added a few fantail guppies, they seemed to be fine for a week so I added a few more (total of 9 guppies), after about 3 weeks every day after returning home from work I'd find 1 or 2 floating in the tank..eventually all my fish died which was rather disheartening I almost abandoned the tank..
Decided to try 1 more time this time I planted Green Rush, Lobelia Cardinalis mini, some short Amazon swords and some eleocharis acicularis mini and left it to cycle for another 3 weeks.. The Amazon swords developed black algae and eventually died while the lobelias seemed to be resistant to the black algae, the Green Rush started to melt so I cut all infected leaf strands leaving the root system now it's healthy as n growing fine.. then came my new fish I added a dwarf gourami 2 pepper Corydoras 1 algae eater and 5 Rummy nose tetras (known to be tank indicators, if water parameters are out they loose their colour giving you a chance to correct it before loosing fish) all of which are still very much alive.. I decided to buy a bigger tank (60l) done the same thing planted Green Rush Lobelia Cardinalis Amazon swords and Eleocharis Acicularis.. During the cycling period my lobelias grew about 10cm, the Green Rush again suffered from melt, the Amazon swords developed the same black algae and died while the eleocharis struggled to stay alive. After cycling I added my fish again a dwarf gourami Corydoras rummy nose tetras a Calico Lyretail Molly and algae eaters, the gourami seemed depressed it would just lay on the bottom barely moving (they like to hide under surface cover plants) so I added a new taller plant Blue Stricta, to my amazement this plant grows like wild fire, in about 2 weeks they had reached the water surface and were creating a clumped mess of leaves as new branches were shooting from the crowns.. I cut the strictas about 4 inches from bottom level leaving a few bigger leaves on the stems then replanted the crowns, new shoots have come from the old stems and their sprouting branches everywhere as well as the replanted crowns.. my tanks now look like an underwater forest with lush green growth giving plenty of hiding spaces for my gouramis and the smaller tetras (also added 5 black neon tetras later)..
As a beginner myself I found lobelias to be hardy plant but has shallow roots and is easily uprooted by my Corydoras, I won't even touch the Amazon swords anymore but I highly recommend growing blue stricta only thing is you've gotta keep trimming leaves to allow light to the lower level plants..
I have since added water sprites (water wisteria) to the garden and now my Corydoras are breeding....

Amazing channel & I’m loving the new store! It was hard watching you break down the old place, but you did an awesome job for handing it back.
My floating plants always die & I don’t know why. I have really hard water here in the uk & wondering if that’s a problem? I also have mostly shrimp only tanks.
Keep giving us such great content & advice 🎉
