Molotov said to Ribbentrop &quot;who is bombing us?&quot;<br>&quot;The Brirish&quot; said Ribbentrop.<br>&quot;You told me that the British were beaten a month ago&quot;

  The story I heard for the name Molotov cocktail is that Molotov was claiming that Soviet bombers were dropping food aid on Helsinki. The Finns therefore started saying that the petrol bomb was a cocktail to have with that food aid.

  Molotov was a tool, everything would have happened more or less the same without him. He was a functionary. But then, he did get a cocktail named after him, so he&apos;ll be remembered.

  I think that there was sarcasm around &quot;Molotov picnic baskets&quot; as bombs due to the Soviet Narrative, they were dropping food, not bombs, which led the Finns to coin the &quot;Molotov cocktail&quot; term. I am not Finnish and do not know the issue, though.
