I remembered a few, including the one in Farmer Giles of Ham.<br>Ancalagon was my fave.

This is one of the many reasons I'm so SO ready for Peter Jackson to produce a Silmarillion movie series. Imagine getting to see Glaurung and Ancalagon the way we saw Smaug! The thought gives me chills. This could really be fun. It would take a lot of creative changes to be sure. Making a unified series out of what's really an anthology is no small thing. But I'm thinking it will be worth it.

I love stories about dragons all around. They are my favorite fantasy creatures. I always see them as cosmic, ancient beings that are terrifying, powerful, and wise.

Smaug, Glaurung, and Ancalagon. Those are the main three that I can remember if someone just asks me to name as many as possible off the top of my head..

I can think of four named dragons before watching the rest of the video - Smaug the Golden, Scatha the Worm, Ancalagon the Black, and Glaurung, Father of Dragons.

Very well explained lady.

Glaurung, Scatha, Ancalagon, Smaug. Those are the only ones that come directly to mind. Your content is absolutely fantastic. It pays tribute to J.R.R. Tolkien's legacy and homage to his works. Thank you, Lord Of The Rings Explained!

The dragons were a part of the plan regarding the seven rings but the plan worked a little to well and many rings were lost to dragons fire.

Excellent as always, thanks! Of the four dragons named, we only really get two fully fleshed out characters, Glaurung and Smaug. Both great villains in their stories. It's remarkable the endless fascination with Ancalagon given he only appears in a couple of paragraphs of the Silmarillion. As you say, his impact on the story is immense, along with his huge size.
