I remember being down at LBI in the mid-60's with my family and it flooded like this. It was in the summer so it wasn't a nor'easter. More like a fast-moving monsoon. Over a foot of water on many of the streets especially down near the southern part of the island, like Holgate. But it was so much different back then because the Island wasn't nearly as built up then as it is now. And the vast majority of the homes were more like bungalow sized or small houses. But you did see quite a few houses built up on stilts, especially nearer to the ocean and bay side.

Good report...as someone who worked for public works for 32 years in all blizzards and all but one hurricane. Better than someone standing in water and rambling on for 20 minuites about inches of water and wind direction.
