Some of the craziest people who where at the battle of Jutland was the Danish fishermen, who sailed out during the battle, among shells and fires to pick up sailors.
Choosing to sail out into the what was as the time, the biggest exchange of shell fire ever in human history, to help sailors in need.

My grandmother was born in 1900, and her parents had a farm just 800 meters from the beach in Fjaltring, Denmark, just East of the battle, and she told me they could hear the big guns from the ship all day and night.
The following weeks, a lot of corpses came ashore from the battle, both German and English.
They were all buried at the local church and graveyard. They noted the names of those who har any form of ID, and the local priest sent this info to the embassies so their families would know of their fate.
These graves are still maintained today.

Hey there. The background music often drowns out the conversation going on. Where's the point in that?

The background music is just too loud to watch this

On a recent visit to the town of St Just, West, Cornwall we visited the church of St. Just in Penwith & found the Battle Ensign of HMS Revenge flown at the Battle of Jutland & presented to the church as a memorial to those who served & those who were lost at Jutland.

The flag was presented to the church by a local man Russell Grenfell who was a junior officer at Jutland & later a Captain, Royal Navy.

Please remix the audio--the music is louder than the conversations in the museum & nearly impossible to hear the info/stories. Not quite as bad with outdoor bits, but the music nearly always overwhelms the speakers!

Interesting but the terrible music spoilt it for me.

It's showing my age, but my grandfather fought & survived the battle of Jutland, but died of pneumonia in the 1920's.

I’ve dived Scapa Flow twice. One of my best dives was the Kronprinz Wilhelm. Lying on my back in the gap between the forward guns & the seabed worn 49,000 tonnes of German battleship above me & staring down the barrel of a 15” gun which fired at Jutland was quite an experience.

A tip about wading in Portsmouth Harbour mud, from one who grew up there...

Get a couple of 30" planks, one for each foot, and "ski" across the top.
