I can’t imagine choosing only one. I love having access to each and the joy they provide me in their own ways.

I have a vinyl record in my collection that I bought in 1980. It plays all the way through without skipping and apart from a few cracles and pops at the beginning of each side,it sounds amazing, as good as when it was new. The key to enjoying vinyl is caring for the record. Hold by the edges with the palm of your hands, treat it like it was a fragile piece of bone china, clean each side before playing, make sure your stylus is clean. Then after listening, put it back in the inner sleeve and outer album cover straight away and store vertically. Records last for decades with the right amount of care.

I live in a van down by the river and still get by with my Walkman.

With streaming you normally don’t own the music but it is convenient on the go. I always buy my favorites on vinyl, CD or SACD - you own them, you are not dependent on internet speed and you get all the credits, liner notes and the artwork for each release. All of them have a place in my life today. I recently sold off my reel-to-reel and compact cassette collections, so some people like these formats too.
