Being from Generation Jones and raised by parents born between the Great Depression and WWII, I learned frugality. Farming for two decades as an adult just galvanized frugal sensibility into my lifestyle. Environmental and health awareness also enters into the equation.

I use large woolen balls in the dryer instead of those heavily perfumed sheets that don't get rid of static and hide in my clothes... I sometimes put some essential oil on them when drying linens. <br>I also use Scrub Daddy sponges, Swedish dish cloths (made of a sponge foam), and silicon floor sweepers on our hardwood. <br><br>I started getting inspired years ago by watching Wellness Mama here on YT - she makes homemade cleaning and bath products.

Laundry is a billion-dollar business because their marketing got people addicted to the smell!!! All these toxic products are also hormone disruptors. I use ECOS laundry detergent and vinegar as a fabric softener. For the dryer: a rolled-up 100% wool sock with safety pins fastened to it. The wool absorbs moisture, and the safety pins divert the charge, which reduces static. I hang-dry 80% of my clothing, so my dryer loads are small, which also helps to reduce static. I have a Swiffer mop because I got it for free with a coupon, but I always attach my own microfiber cloths for mopping, and I also have a reusable duster that fits on the Swiffer mop. I cut my sponges in half and make most of my own cleaners. I do buy the hand held Swiffer duster refills (I get them at the $ store) because I use them to clean around my toilet to reach the tight areas behind and on the sides. Then I toss them away.

Sad story of our lives. We are not Civilized society we are consumer society. I live in Canada. My Home is 23 years old. Trying my best to reduced these things and less usage. But unfortunately it’s seems so hard to apply. Amazing Vlog an eye opener. Best wishes and blessings.❤❤❤

Did you ever visit Japaneese supermarket or convenient store? They use HUGE amount of plastic and wrap every carrot separately. So do not be so sure that they are different from other people.
