The GAA ban on foreign games essentially meant english games which is why golf which was from scotland and tennis which has a partially french origin were not included

Excellent video. One additional point of information that wasn't mentioned: during the period when the name "Ireland" was under dispute the British media referred to the Belfast-based team as "Ireland" and the Dublin-based team as "Eire".<br><br>"Éire" is the name of Ireland in the Irish (Gaelic) language.
