  CvS2 wasn't my first fighting game, but it was the fighting game that made me want to learn how to actually play fighting games. It forever holds a special place in my heart.

  CVS2 to me is still the best 2D fighting game ever made, from day one we all knew this was the pinnacle of 2D fighters, the impact this game as had on the community on the whole is still felt even today, heck the logo for EVO became that in 2002 BECAUSE of CVS2, absolutely amazing legacy this game has had and is still amazing 25 years later.

  Absolute classic. My old roommate and I used to play the heck out of this one together back in the 00s. I’ve been playing it again recently reliving those days.

  I remember going to my town's videogame shop (in Europe) in 2001. There was a TV with a PS2 hooked up and people were playing Pro Evolution Soccer, if I remember correctly. I asked the shop clerk for CVS2 and he said he had it. The people playing asked what it was and he offered to let them try it. After a few minutes one of them goes: "Why the hell are we playing PES when this exists?!" And just like that, it became that shop's main attraction for a while.

  Got this game in Christmas of 01 when I was 12.<br><br>I knew of SNK, having played the Neo Geo Color Capcom vs SNK (holds up really well even today) and Fatal Fury on Genesis (or Mega Drive)<br><br>This game though, is my fav fighting game of all time. Having wanting to play CVS 1 but not owning a Dreamcast, this was all I wanted.<br><br>Oh btw I hate the Shin Akuma boss battle with every fiber in my soul 😅.

  Somehow never heard of either CvS till the Fighting Collections last year, but CvS2 is worth the price tag nearly by itself lmao

  dude, around 2010-2013 my family had gotten a ps2, and we got sooo deep into this, for a solid chunk of time, it’s all that my older brother and their friends would play , for entire afternoons <br>great times

  There were never any &quot;plans&quot; for CVS3, it was always gonna be a short term thing while Capcom and SNK weren&apos;t releasing the next version of their franchise titles, so the CVS series was just to tie things over in the mean time. &nbsp;This was confirmed by Yasuyuki Oda back in a 2018 interview, quoted as saying:<br><br>&quot;To be absolutely honest, those games were made at a time when both parties had seemingly exhausted the current franchises, so unity and new product were key to keeping players interested. There were no plans for a third game and I cannot see it happening.&quot;

  I remember Ultimate Rugal being an absolute nightmare for me when I was a kid growing up, &amp; when I finally beat him towards the end of 2019, I felt really vindicated!

  Back in the day, this was the game that motivated me to make my own fightstick (by hacking a regular cheap ps2 controller and a simple wooden box), to play with my friends. Such a good game. This and MVC2 to this day are the gifts that keep on giving
