What's your most authentic Cunard moment?

Cunard should never compromise on food quality, period. For a liner that prides itself on timeless elegance, ocean-crossing prestige, and overall luxury, dining is core to the wow factor, not an afterthought.

Had never been on a cruise, no desire to do so. Then I realised I could get almost home to NZ from the UK on her without flying. 2024 World cruise voyage, left Southampton, 47 nights later jumped off in Sydney Australia. Loved every single day on her, those 47 days flew by.

We have traveled on the QM2 three times. The first time we were in the main dining room. The other two times we were in the Britannia Club. The advantage of the Britannia Club is that you have the same table and the same servers for the entire voyage. We had a wonderful time with the crew members. The other perk is that you can dine at wherever you want to within the dining hours. These special things make the Britannia Club worth the extra money for us.

Queen Mary 2 is my favourite ship. We are in our early 50s and travelled with my elderly mother and aunt. We all had a wonderful voyage around the British Isles. Plenty of room, great service, excellent classical music around the ship, great Aqua Therapy Pool (we had it to ourselves!), the Britania Restaurant was faultless (I had personalised meals made for me daily due to health issues), didn't miss afternoon tea in the Queen's Room, loved our room (even thought the window was a little porthole), loved the library from morning reading after breakfast and gathering for a drink in the Carinthia Lounge . We look forward to sailing on her again in the future.

I have booked my first crossing Southampton to NYC with my Mom for June 2026. We are so excited and grateful for content like this to watch in preparation for this exciting voyage. I was disappointed to find out they have canceled free room service for lunch and dinner in Britannia rooms. I got the chance to bid on an upgrade, but Mom has mobility issues and was afraid we would get stuck in a bad part of the ship that no one wanted to be in so we will be remaining in a Britannia Ocean view cabin. I’m wondering if we can still order room service at a fee.
Also, my travel agent told me today that we can anytime dine from 6 to 9 in the Britannia dining room. I hope that’s true, we’ve taken many cruises on different lines and we always use anytime dining. Thanks again for the content and all the comments.

Haven't sailed Cunard but have 2 booked...QV & QM2 for 2026. I hope the race to the bottom stops too. I will say on our last cruise on Caribbean Princess our MDR experience was the best we've ever had. Our waiter and assistant Edwin and Danna, along with the maitre d Adrian made our experience so memorable. Danna even got off the ship to get a banner and decorations for my wife's birthday. Adrian went around to every table multiple times during each seating and even cooked a special pasta appetizer one evening in the middle of rhe MDR. They all got HIGH praise on board and in survey. Hoping Cunard doesn't let us steerage folks down! 🤞

Sailing on the QM2 on her maiden voyage from Southampton UK to NYC in April 2004. The welcome we received from the city was amazing!

I was on the Qm2 in 2019. While eating in the restaurant, we were wearing gloves, and they placed the napkins in our laps. I've never experienced anything like that with any other cruise line. It was a short, lovely trip; my favorite ship.

Britannia club dining has a couple of big advantages . You can easily get a table for 2 and can have a much bigger window of dining times . I believe 24hr room service is still free in Britannia Club . In my opinion the QM2 is really the only ocean liner I would ever want to sail on .

I'm a huge Cunard fan. I have sailed on QM2 four times, and just this year I sailed on both Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth. I always choose Britannia Club for it's flexibilty in when to dine. Although this year I noticed that the Britannia now offers open seating. I prefer the initimacy of the Britannia Club and think that the service is a bit more personalized.

This year I found that many of the passengers attire was a little too casual for Cunard. On non gala nights the attire of many was not up to what I expect for Cunard.

Love your podcast.
