Even though it was a no-fix, I really appreciate you taking the time to go through all that work. For people like me just getting into this as a hobby, it really feels like you're teaching us along the way. That’s why I love your channel. A lot of others focus mainly on the business side, but you balance making money with actually helping viewers learn. It might’ve been a loss for Sally, but it was a win for the rest of us—a great lesson.

You need to invest into sanity check devices! What i mean is that you should have a perfectly working device in hand to check the temperatures/voltages/amps etc. and compare these to the faulty ones without relying on your memory and the case of you actually having checked it in the first place. Right now you weren't sure if the RAM temperature was ok or not, it would have been easy enough to check if you had working one lying around you could take apart. Sure, the ram temps might be so high only in early stages of boot where this device gets stuck and lower on normally booting one but there are more cases where a working, but not for sale device could come in handy!

Videos like this are the best kind of videos for someone like me learning.
You show so many different issues, even tho they are rare, and how to potentially fix them.

Clearly one of the best channels to learn something!

This sort of thing used to be my job in an electronics factory. as well as working assembly I was also often on rework ( fixing the mistakes of other workers ). I was hand soldering fine pitch surface mount and through hole components on industrial flow controllers. We had a station for doing things like the max IC and we were told "nobody can do these by hand" and the station had a computer controlled arm that used suction to place the chip exactly. It's quite amusing to see people just taking advantage of the surface tension of the solder to line the chip up.

With surface mount ICs with legs we were taught the drag soldering method and for components like resistors and capacitors we were taught to use tweezer to hold them in place. Solder one side with the iron. Come off the piece and then solder the other side. We didn't have hot air on production ( might have been a health and safety thing ).

Always worth connecting to a pc with emmc removed to see if it is detected. And whether it can then take a payload. Also, measuring resistance to ground on the main rails can tell you a lot

Joey I am so sorry! I can't believe I sold you a dead switch!! I'm genuinely devastated it was worse than it looked! I really hoped you'd of fixed it.
Really appreciate the compliments to my screw removal and reflowing though.
I never removed the shield because i found these shorts after a google and because I am 100% scared of the apu and ram so assume it's been the flux and heat from my hot air on that IC.
Fingers crossed the parts will at least be helpful for future repairs and I hope I can make it up to you and Sally in future ❤

Those 3-digit codes on the Samsung RAM are production dates in YWW format, i.e. "940" = 40th week of 2019.

I would have reflowed the APU as a last ditch, but yeah, tough one.

By the way for the side of pin 1 of the second MAX IC, you have a little doodle on the top left that shows a schematic at 16:40 ^^ Not because of the top right arrow as you tought, I guess !
