I grew up in Nashville and met her at a telethon when I was six. In her white boots, mini dress, cascades of hair and eyelashes, she was the most glamorous creature I'd ever seen.

This song came out in 1968. It was a huge country crossover hit for Jeannie C. Riley. Ten years later in 1978 due to the popularity of the song and its story. They made a television movie starring Barbara Eden of "I Dream of Jeannie." The movie went on to garner great television ratings and views. Great reaction as always.

When she says “this is just another Peyton Place”, she’s referring to a soap opera which was based on a movie which was based on a book. Peyton Place was full of scandals, just like Harper Valley.<br><br>The song was made into a movie.

This song was why Jeannie C Riley was the first woman to win the entertainer of the year award from the Grammys. Everybody loved this song, from country people through folk and rock people.
