  Randy you are right on about backreeling. I’ve been doing that for 55 years. It’s definitely a “when you know, you know.” thing. Been saying the same thing to my buddy’s for years.

  Randy, you should give a on the water demonstration on the back reeling technique where you explain how to palm the handle to keep drag on the line. I just keep my drag loose and hold tension on the spool whenever I catch big fish that fights hard.

  I like the gear videos!  What makes a good rod feel better to you than a cheap rod?  People say they can ‘detect strikes’ better with a good rod.  Have you found that to be true?

  Randy, the &quot;never use the drag/backreel instead&quot; and &quot;never use braid&quot; you tell us as absolutes. &nbsp;I&apos;m glad they work for you, but backreeling with a fast moving fish that suddenly stops is a tangle waiting to happen. &nbsp;The manufacturers don&apos;t install drags to anger you. &nbsp;I make my drag slightly snug, and after hookset I loosen it slightly and quickly. &nbsp;I&apos;ve practiced it...no problems.<br>I spool some reels with flouro or mono, but for deeper water, current, distance casts and light lures, braid is better. &nbsp;It&apos;s not my opinion...it&apos;s physics: &nbsp;no stretch, no memory, thinner diameter. &nbsp;I really wish you wouldn&apos;t make these statements as absolutes. &nbsp;I like your videos and appreciate your tips and insights on things...but not this one...

  LOL Backreel and no braid to fluoro... why would we do that if the drag works fine? Also, knots were never an issue for me, but braid-to-fluoro is so much better for detecting bites. Randy, this is ridiculous advice.
