It's ridiculous that a place like Majors (Bilston, West Midlands) can produce a 10/10 cod in size & quality and then you have a place right down south at the seaside who should be specialising in something like this and they fail miserably

As an ex chippy frier. It's spent oil, probably a bit foamy as water from frozen fish contaminated the oil as well as from wet raw chips plus over use. Being busy is no excuse it's purely cost saving. <br> I would hazard a guess every thing that goes in those friers are frozen. Batter mix out of a bag, powdered curry or granules.
