“We hired people who hated Halo” - Frank O’Conner when talking about “Halo” 4. He’s also the guy who thought Forerunners were aliens who hated humans, even though Contact Harvest by Joseph Staten and the main story of Halo 3 outright said humans are Forerunners and this is what the Prophets started their war of extermination to cover up. Also, various Bungie employees came out and said in their universe Forerunners were humans, and that 343 retconned it. Paul Russle talked to the H3 terminal writers, and aside from Frank they were all on board with Forerunners being human. Marcus Lehto, the cocreator of Halo also said Forerunners are humans.
