  My grandma was a kid during the war (1930s-1940s) and there wasn&apos;t always a guarantee she&apos;d get a meal during the day, so when she did, she was told to finish it all. Then she taught the same to her kids, incl. my dad, and he taught it to us. Even though we do now know we&apos;re getting the next meal, not finishing a meal or throwing away food still feels weird to many Finns, including myself. Starvation has been a thing here, multiple times in history, and it still is in some parts of the world, and we manage to feel guilty even though not finishing your meal here does not help the starving person there in any way.

  Oh, coming here, nice! Well, the classic things of course, salmiakki, salmiakki vodka, sauna with a cold plunge, lots of sights and nature, Suomenlinna is a classic Helsinki place etc - Lapland in ruskatime is really beautiful etc. Lots of choices and opportunities from the conventional to the very eccentric :)
