  I served as Director for our local family history center for a few years and remember an individual that had requested to do a name for a very close friend that had literally saved his life as a youth but because they were not related the request was denied and he supposedly had permission from a close family member of the deceased

  New guidelines for Family Search don't allow a member to select a name for proxy ordinances unless you share a common ancestor, or that person was married to someone you share a lineal relationship with,  among other rules.  It's no longer possible to pick up a random famous person and perform ordinances in their behalf.  The Family Search all-knowing computer puts a green box by the names of persons you can pick up.  It's actually wonderful.  People I thought were too distantly related for me to pick up, under the old honor system, often now have a green box.  And if I click a link, I can see the exact relationship.  I can also pick up persons my spouse is related to.  The field is white. I mean green.  Great episode, thanks.

  I am 2nd cousins a couple times removed from a famous person, Nobel prize winner and everything. His ordinances on Family Search were not visible. So, I emailed Family Search and asked if his work wasn't done I can do it. They responded and said yes, I could except his work was already complete, so I was satisfied with that!

  The restoration of the Gospel of Christ allows ALL of Heavenly Father's children to receive the blessings of Christ's atonement. Just what one expects of a Heavenly Father's plan of happiness.

  Before the advent of family search, I did the work for an ancestor who was in Nauvoo &nbsp; After everything went online, lo and behold, his work had already been done in Nauvoo and his work had also been done by almost every modern relative !😂😂 <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ci4Sw2NAVgM&amp;t=3851">1:04:11</a>

  So thankful Father has opened all of the doors for mankind in our time. I almost always feel ancestors presence, or those I’m doing temple work for, at their baptism, initiatory, at the veil, and at their sealings. The work performed in our temples is Father-approved.
