  This jig is fantastic. I’ve made one for my large router and use it for floating tenons on large frames. The only thing I did differently was make my base plate out of 10mm thick clear acrylic so I can see the the base material at all times.

  The only drawback I can see is that it reduces the depth you can cut to by the thickness of the base. You could reduce the base thickness by using polycarbonate, that would mean a different type of fixing, instead of screw in nuts you would have to use captive nuts that were  fixed with epoxy, or some other glue. Using clear plastic would give you the ability to line up the work by sighting through the base, it would also allow you to see the start and finish lines clearly, which would allow you to offset the jig for hinges etc.
