Great video as always. Regarding battery sizes, when I watched the GaryDoesSolar video on the duck curve, I actually came to the opposite conclusion for the long-term outlook. If the wholesale rate drops to near zero at noon, and there is a peak in the morning and evening, it seems to me that it would be worth storing the generation for later export when the rate is better. Hence if the export rates do change in that way, I feel that you'd need a *big* battery.
When I was researching my own system, I tried to model a variety of different battery sizes against a variety of different tariffs using his calculator, with arbitrage and off-setting consumption strategies. The conclusion that I came to given the array size that I had, and as tariffs currently stand, the optimal payback period & ROI was with a battery that was just big enough to last a winter's day with no solar generation, but that I felt that due to the duck curve, in the long term a bigger battery was the way to go. So far the arbitrage return has been higher than my modelling suggested. Doing about 1.3 full cycles daily (just within my battery warranty cycles), mostly in the 20-80% SoC range on the battery to avoid battery degradation.
Regarding adding modules to the battery system - yes it is good to be able to do this, but there are a couple of caveats. Firstly many battery manufacturers recommend that you get additional modules within the first year or two, otherwise the modules will be out of balance due to differing degradation, and secondly, it seems to be cheaper to have the modules added during the original install, mostly from an installation costs viewpoint. The quotes I've got for adding a couple of modules onto my system were quite a bit higher than the cost of adding the modules in the first place (the budget I had at the time wasn't enough to make it practical, however).

Superb video - I'm loving the channel. Unbiased, clear and a little more dynamic than other channels. You might want to crack the odd smile though ;)

Awesome video, I gave a thumbs up hearing you say not oversize battery system, very sensible advice as many installers only giving people 2x the capacity it actually needs. Unless you have frequent power cuts need full home backup, there's really not much benefit oversizing the system more than daily needs.

Damn, wish I had come across your channel before having Octopuss do my installation. I have The Tesla power wall 3 with 24 panel system. The panels are a lower output to what you are saying could be possible. A Solar JAM54D41-445/LB panels. Im happy with the Tesla set up.
