  A breaking wave 40’ high will &nbsp;be constantly breaking in different places. It has an excellent change to pitchpole or roll a 30 ft and larger boats. The breaking crest is flying forward. When waves in storm reach the hight where they start to break, it’s a very serious time for the crews of any size boats particularly smaller ones. Crossing shallower sections in oceans like Trafalagar Cabo off the coast of Portugal for instance , which has a shallow arm that stretches more than 20 mile out to sea. Taking a short cut across this shoal (or any similar area) with reasonable wave heights can be extremely dangerous since when you sail through that short cut &nbsp;you can experience nothing but breaking waves all around you. And this is a large area so sailing across that shoal seems harmless when you enter, and takes at least an hour plus to cross, during which time the sea conditions will change and before you know it you’re in serious nightmare of dangerous waters.

  Most of the information in this video is excellent. It&apos;s treatment of rogue waves is dated and incorrect. Understand the Drepner wave. Where one wave in a sequence adds from the wave before and after resulting in a taller steeper wave. Wave superposition is a different process.

  Not all boats need rudder to heave to. But losing the rudder is certainly worth a Pan Pan.. As for vulnerability, long keel boats do have an advantage against all forms of rudder damage

  This video was extremely hard to watch because the pictures that you had didn&apos;t match what the voice was saying the voice was actually saying good things and made sense but the pictures were not please change that
