Seattle Mayor Wants A Carry Ban After Her Own Data Says This

Seattle’s mayor just released a new gun violence plan. And buried inside the conversation is the number that changes everything: 0.1% of Seattleites are reportedly involved in 52% of gun-related incidents. That is Seattle’s own police data. So if the city knows a tiny group is connected to more than half the shootings, you would think the plan would focus directly on that group. Some of it does. Focused deterrence is a real strategy, and targeting the people actually driving violence makes sense. But then comes the part that should make every legal gun owner pay attention. The mayor also wants the state to allow restrictions on firearms in “sensitive spaces,” including places like Seattle Center and major public events. They are not applying for permits. They are not waiting for permission. The person who gets hit is the person who took the class, got the permit, followed the law, and never hurt anyone.
