This is one of the best videos out. Most of us are NOT well versed in club fitting and will get taken advantage of, if we don’t know. Seems like the moral of this story is get a copy of your build sheet, tell the fitter you’ll think about it, go home and research the retail price of each item online. If they are unnecessarily charging you more, go elsewhere to buy your clubs. Presumably, you’ve paid the $200 - $400 fitting charge, so just move on. Since you have the build sheet, you can get another club maker, like yourself, to build them. As always, thanks for the education. Cheers.

During Covid I was bored and locked down. So I bought a swing weight , ordered heads and shaft etc… and built my own set, found your channel and learnt a ton plus you answered every question I asked so -
thank you!
And just another note I just got new wedges and ordered 3 , 8 iron shafts that I’m about to change over - again thanks to you

OMG, I love this video. It matches my experience exactly. I believe in club fitting but have an extreme distaste for much of the club fitting industry for the exact reasons you mention. Shaft pureing: no evidence it improves a golfers performance and is too expensive, overcharging for shafts, recommending more expensive shafts because of high profit margins. Ugh. Their primary goal is to take as much money from the golfer as possible. Proper fitting is secondary. Thank you for educating the golfing masses.

That build sheet reminds me of the car buying process. If you don't do your research first, you will pay for things you don't need. Always ask a car salesperson for the out the door price and make sure you don't pay for unnecessary fees or upcharges.

Wish this video would have been a month earlier. Paid too much for fitted clubs and now I’m regretting it. Great video and awesome content!

I got fitted with a set of Srixon improvement irons a couple years ago. After hitting multiple brands with different shafts it came down to about 3 brands and I liked the Srixons best. I paid a $125 fitting fee that I thought was fair based on the number of clubs I hit and the fitters ability to meet the goals a wanted to achieve. I compared his price to what Srixon offered on their website for the same components and adjustments and ended up going with the fitters price since he offered a $150 discount that essentially payed the state sales tax.

Dude from club championship literally told me, ya buy the titleist head if you want to hit it left (trying to fit me into apex callaway) dude I know how to read a trackman😂. Also, they were charging me $100 a shaft when titleist had them at like $15 up charge. Absolutely insanity. KBS tourV 120 X

I used to build clubs back when there were quality component manufacturers like Golfsmith, Wishon, and Golfworks. I still have all the tools. Thankfully Maltby is still around so you can still get quality components but club heads are dramatically limited. Now I just reshaft and regrip clubs. I've done the shaft alignment process on my own clubs for both steel and graphite and have never seen any measurable difference between those that I aligned and those that I didn't. I certainly would never pay extra for it. I do this as a hobbyist and I'm sure a professionals time is more valuable but the prices some are charging is borderline criminal.
