How Does Hair Work In Splatoon?

  I like to think that the hair can melt with a hairdryer, similar to jello or plastic in a way. This could explain the afro hairstyle as it's all the tentacles melted together, as well as the "Spikey" hair where cut bits are held by drying to to keep shape. Also this could give a fun idea where someone with some ink on their head can use pieces of other people's hair and fuse them together.

  Inklings recreationaly explode their entire bodies and reform them in seconds. I dont think cutting their hair hurts.

  I remember seeing an animation that takes on the idea of cutting inkling hair, if they feel pain or not. It&apos;s been a while since I&apos;ve seen it, I think there was two versions. One where the inkling was in immense pain and the other was completely okay.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAGeLWcSXwI&amp;t=143">2:23</a> actually this is a huge misconception, while the art book does say that, in truth it’s referring to octotroopers and other tentacle like octarians not octolings, “Octarian” &nbsp;is more of a general term used for them but it was confirmed that octolings and octotroopers are made differently

  My head cannon:<br>Inkling hair is strange. <br><br>By cutting it normally, &nbsp;it initially looks like the &quot;bangs&quot; haircut for Inkling Girls, and eventually heals up to become the end of a tentacle. <br><br>For the bangs haircut, they have to keep on cutting it every...I&apos;d say every two ish weeks. <br><br>It does not hurt when an Inkling gets a hair cut.<br><br>All Octolings start out with smaller hair like the Inklings, before getting puffy-er hair when they&apos;re older, at around 17-18 (actually canon)<br><br>Inklings have blow-dryers and combs, as we can see examples of these in the manga and I think Octo Expansion?<br><br>Inkling hair can get tangled or fuzzy, as we see something similar to this in the manga with gloves during the third hero arc.<br><br>You can actually run your hand or whole arm through Inkling and Octoling hair, given it&apos;s almost completely ink. We see Inklings and Octolings run their arms through their hair a lot in the square, as well as in the Splatoon 3 trailers. <br><br>Adding on to that last point a bit, it seems like if Inkling hair is in a hot climate for too long, it &quot;melts&quot;, and makes it more floppy and easier to run your hand through. Again, we see this a lot in the Splatoon 3 trailers.<br><br>Inkling hair is strange.<br><br>Also go check out John Sandwich&apos;s &quot;Good Hair Day&quot; Splatoon animation for how he sees Inkling hair and what would happen if an Inkling cut her hair.

  I remember hearing Captain Cuttlefish had himself dried/Sun-bleached, which extended his life span and probably cut down his ink production.<br><br>If true. His bald head might be a side effect of not having much ink.

  I imagine their hair is like ferrous fluid, controlling it mentally with some sort of electromagnetic mechanism which isn&apos;t too much of a stretch for sea creatures.<br>Then product and scissors could be used to style it and then they just &apos;maintain&apos; it subconsciously.<br>And wigs are probably entirely synthetic.

  If we presume that the hair is indeed just ink, then I can imagine that an inklings hair cutting process would consist of the putting their hair in a mold and having it trimmed afterward.<br><br>That would explain not only the haircut style but also the absurdity of the afro, because they put it in a mold to get it that way.
