I was born and raised in Mobile Alabama and when I was in cub scouts back in the middle 70's we got to spend the night on the USS Alabama and taken through all of it, miss the old days.

There are no more 16 inch shells available, the U.S. military began disposing of its remaining stockpile of roughly 15,600 surplus 16-inch battleship shells in late 2016 and 2017. I would have loved to have been able to experience what it would feel like when a full salvo was fired, and been able to see what type of destruction those rounds could do.

In the early 90’s I was visiting family in Mobile. I was 6 or 7. My sister and cousins were mid teens and we were on a tour of the ship. I got lost, they left me. 15 - 20 minutes I was alone, couldn’t see or hear anyone. I may as well have been the only person aboard in my mind. Just kept moving through an empty ship. Passing shells bigger than me. Came out a door, there they were, as well as the rest of the world. Still an odd time warp experience in my young mind. I’m 40 today. I’d like to go back, city and ship. Haven’t been back since but I’d go if I had a reason. Didn’t scare me that bad I guess

I still have the free pass card they gave out for contributing to the recovery of Alabama. A valued keepsake.

Great park! I've been aboard the sub & Alabama while being amazed at the SR 71 in the nearby hanger

Reactivate the battleships, were like reactivate steam locomotives,on railways,or use again horses in agriculture. This Times Are gone, and those ships should be preserved as Part of history.Alone the visitors Can give enough money,to maintain this magnificent monuments.,

Because it's almost a hundred years old?

Can we just stop with the "Why can't we reactivate the ancient ship with no logistics support, ammunition, industrial base, spare parts, and prohibitively large crews." series of videos? They are now all over YouTube, and unless you are stupid or unconscious, you already know why. AND, AI SUCKS!!!!!!

Battleships were obsolete in World War II. Let that sink in. They were obsolete 85 years ago. We may as well recommission a Civil War Iron Clad.

Your text says Bremerton... In Washington. Your map shows Beverton, Oregon.

It would be cheaper to build a fully accurate and operational replica of any of the museum ships than to reactivate any of the existing ones.
