Just a glimpse into how overworked and overwhelmed the railway system was during the war years and the dedication of the staff often forgotten in the recollection of wartime years, nice post thoroughly enjoyed watching

A wonderful example of "keep calm and carry on" British grit at it's best.

First class documentary on the contribution of the British railway system to the WW2 effort.  Greatly assisted by those old historic and  beautifully made black and white Pathe News Films.  I was SO surprised to see film of the V1 bomb damage to the Chessington line and the V2 damage to the Hampton Court branch-line viaduct.   As a child living close by in the 1950's,  I had previously only ever heard stories of these incidents.

Local Malvern boy here. &nbsp; Thanks for showing the footage of Malvern Wells (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdxzDb8TrNo&amp;t=101">1:41</a>). My stamping ground in the I950s. &nbsp;I remember Blackmore Park. &nbsp;Malvern Wells station was closed in the 1960s as part of the Beeching axe.

I have never seen such incredible war time footage such as this before. &nbsp; Most enjoyable, most emotional, film, I have ever seen. &nbsp; My heart goes out to all the men, women, military personnel &amp; railway staff, who were killed during this period, some of which never came back to us all. As a rail enthusiast, well I was totally amazed at what had been captured on film, thanks to the camera men/women &amp; film crews, some of which never survived or where killed in action too. Steam was king for sure, how times have changed. Thx. for sharing with us all. &nbsp;(McAttack21) May peace be with us all &amp; God Bless us all. &nbsp;👍✌🙂❤❤

A very interesting video. I love the old steam powered cranes and shovels cable operated with no hydraulics. Operating them is a rare art. We have a rail mounted wrecking crane steam powered still in working order in Ely Nevada at the Nevada Northern railway museum. I love to see it working. 😊
