Predictability and consent are very important in making a sexual relationship comfortable enough to engage in. Knowing the rules and expectations removes a lot of the stress. Thanks for making content about this very important topic.

I like the idea of sex way more than the reality of it. I don’t dislike it, but I can’t really be bothered.

The kink community is so much easier for me to navigate even around not kinky types of intimacy. Being up front about likes, dislikes, hard limits, - talking about "weird" responses. Doing this upfront before even progressing to meeting in person or considering dating or hookup or whatever.

Discussing "aftercare" or how to handle shutdowns or recognise. planning how to handle non verbal episodes how to communicate consent like that or non consent.

I find the submissive side much easier. so I have communicated what I am open or not open to. Then I am directly explicitly told what is wanted from me. sometimes what is wanted is me to just do nothing but respond however I do to specific typically non-sexual types of stimulation.

Then the structure of debriefing. where i have time time to process what happened and talk through my thoughts, feelings or anxieties that came up during. To address them directly. Like is some odd twitching or whatever bad to my partner, or good.

I specifically seek to be overstimulated until I have a meltdown, in that safe, planned, container. Then when im in that state to instead of feeling hated shamed and rejected for it - to instead feel wanted enjoyed and loved for it.

This conversation made me think of the belief that "love doesn't need words..." Absolute crap. Love needs more. We need communication and I don't know why it's seen as unsexy or unloving. It's the most loving, respectful thing you can do.
Great conversation. We are in a deficit of accessible information on these kinds of topics.

In regards to the sanitised version of autism the media wants to portray (and society wants to consume)..... have a look into how Dani from Love on the Spectrum was treated compared to Tanner. Society cannot handle the fact that AuDHD/Autism/ADHD folx have full sexual desires, needs, etc... this is such a taboo topic for a lot of people and I love that it's here thank you Orion!!

I think part of the "fluidity" of autistic people is that we are less inclined to accept (or even understand) societal pressure to be "normal" (straight/cis/mono/partnered).

We desperately needed this content before my ND husband ended his life after I asked if we could have a conversation about consent and his needs, at the beginning of this month. People are literally not surviving this topic. (Edit: FWIW they wanted to be loved unconditionally nothing more or less. Stop expecting sordid/lurid details, they were not into anything unusual or off-key, just deeply believed that 'everyone else had it figured out' and thought that not living up to that lie was a major flaw in themself. That is the root under why we NEED to be open around who we are and what we want).

Thank you so much for posting this video! I've struggled so much with the things you're talking about. I did experience sexual assault in my 20s, before I was diagnosed, and I didn't even realize I was being assaulted at the time, I thought the situation was "normal" so I didn't tell anyone about it, until years later in therapy.

And as you said, Orion, unless someone walks up to me and says "Hi, I think you're pretty, I want to date you." I will never realize someone is interested in me. I have no idea what subtle signals are.

This is a wonderfully helpful video.

Great discussion here. Thank you. At 61 and three years in my ASD ADHD, I look back and see the performative years. Le sigh.
