  His father taught him more physics than an University ever can. By the time he finished his History degree he was ahead of even an accomplished physics undergrad with 4 years under his belt by a good mile. &nbsp;Having a knowledgeable father or mother can change everything if you want to go in the academic path.

  Your introduction plays right in to what many people think is wrong with physics today. Creating new hypotheses in physics based solely on &quot;beautiful&quot; mathematics keeps producing multitudes of papers in areas like string theory without making much progress that can be supported by experiment.

  If you can say in plain sight that we are substituting experimental verification with Witten authority, then theoretical physics is in a really bad place
