That flowchart of physics history needs to be a poster

That last section was brilliant. As someone who learned more from the library than from traditional education, I was constantly reading about the journey of physics and completely agree that without that understanding, learning modern physics is a very dry subject.

The key point of this presentation is that the scientific community generates more insights and breakthroughs when the “Great man working in isolation and in competition with his contemporaries” concept is rejected in favor of a collaborative approach where ideas are shared. The quest for Nobel Prizes and recognition can be a motivator for some theorists and researchers, I’m sure, but innovation for its on sake and in the furtherance of human understanding and progress is the truly noble prize.

Sean Carroll is a gift to humanity in terms of Physics communication to laypersons, he and Brian Cox, et al.

While it shows present for Chen-Ning Yang, he unfortunately passed away on October 18th at the age of 103, presumably while this video was being made.

That ending of each contribution gave me goosebumps.

Wonderful. Well done! Sean Carrol's tone of voice and presentation style is matter of fact, conversational, engaging.... not mentioning that he knows what he speaks of. This presentation is a gem.

Swear to GOD, there aren't any better educators to listen to than Sean Carroll, Brian Green and Jim Al-Khalili. They all, are just brilliant when it comes to explaining complex subjects or describe important historical events in an extremely clear manner! Thank you for this!

Been following monsieur Carroll for a long time. If you want to learn science without BS, he's your guy! He's not one of those who claim to know everything. Very open minded thinker which is refreshing.

really like the time line showing how theories progress over time, adding more understanding brick by brick

0:19: Thankful for the 4 semesters of physics that were part of my undergrad EE degree as I can still recognize Schrodinger, Heisenberg, Dirac, Bohr, Curie, and Einstein. I have come to think of this as the "Where's Rutherford" photo.
