  LvG is a clever, clever man. <br>He uses his flamboyant style to keep the spotlight away from his players. I remember him at a post-match press conference, being halfway through a dismal AZ season, where the the journos were asking hard questions about squad and player quality.<br>LvG had a (calculated?) meltdown and the next day, all the papers talked about were his crazy antics. He kept the heat off of his players, who appreciated him for it. He ended up winning the Eredivisie title with AZ.

  LvG was on to something, United had control most games, just lacked the end product, he was building. But he like all other managers post Fergie was never going to truly succeed under Woodwar/Glazers.

  Just wanted to say thanks for this video. LVG never really got the farewell he deserved, especially after that Argentina match in 2022 it kind of put a shadow over an incredible career. But he’s a true legend. Both in 2014 and 2022 with the Netherlands, it always felt like anything was possible just because he was there. If those penalty shootouts had gone differently… who knows, maybe we’d have lifted the World Cup. Thanks again for this great tribute

  I bet we will look at Mourinho with the same lens in a few years. I could be wrong but there are a few similarities between the two, at least, in terms of character.
