My New Espresso Setup: Unboxing the La Pavoni Cellini Mini X

Today I’m unboxing the La Pavoni Cellini Mini X, finding a place for it and setting it up for the first time. The Mini X is the heat exchange model, and that “X” makes a practical difference. Unlike the single boiler Mini Cellini, it lets you brew espresso and steam milk at the same time. In this first look, I go through the machine’s layout and specifications, unpack the included accessories, fill the water tank, and switch it on for the first time. The Mini X has a 1.5L stainless steel boiler, a 1,350W heating element, a removable 1.7L water tank, PID boiler temperature control, and a 58mm E61 group. It also has separate hot water and steam wands, a shot timer, and settings accessible beneath the drip tray. I take a closer look at the portafilter, baskets, tamper, milk jug, drip tray, cup tray, cleaning brush and supplied water filter. There are a few genuine first-time setup moments in here too, including working out how the filter fits and watching the machine fill and flush its system. This is the unboxing and initial setup, rather than a performance review. Once I’ve made some coffee with it, I’ll come back with a closer look at the daily workflow, steaming, espresso, and the machine’s settings.
