"Please tell us you won't use AI to produce your videos!"
But also please don't lose the robot geezer who signs off. "That's it for this video..."

Didn't realise Mrs. Drach did the thumbnails, and having been prompted to think about it for a moment, she does a good job. Almost always clear, striking and supportive of the title. Even a couple of the other naval channels which pop up in the 'suggested' list next to yours tends to fall into that sloppy Youtube style -- photograph overlaid by SHOCKING FACES overlaid by DRAMATIC TEXT. Not that they aren't clever in their own way, but I do appreciate a thumbnail that just does its job.

About Operation Sealion;, I would love a collaboration with Chris ( MAH ) and Bernhard ( MHV) so they can dig in the german archives to tell what the Luftwaffe and the Wehrmacht's toughts about it were. And Drach tell us what doubts and problems the Kriegsmarine had. Can be a long episode, but i would make a lot of tea and settle myself to watch. Also, a bit about the german Erzats-fleet of upgunned Dutch coasters ( artillerietragers ) and old armoured ships rebuild for flak-ships would be very nice.

I think we all appreciate how Drach treats everyone with Pateron Dry Docks with everyone. I also appreciate the annotating of the videos because there are some topics I'm not really curious about. But fantastic work Drach. Thank you.

Drach’s discussion of his attempted practical test of an Operation Sealion Assault Ship reminds me of a comment on a video about Operation Sealion that boils down to “the British could have just run their MTBs and Destroyers through the invasion fleet and let the wakes capsize the barges.”

Another tour de force Drach! Your work is consistently some of the best on YouTube. Thank you!

The last RN paddle wheelers were the Director class of diesel-electric paddle tugboats constructed in 1957–1958, the last one was withdrawn in 1980.
Each paddle wheel was driven by an individual electric motor, giving outstanding manoeuvrability. Paddle tugs were able to more easily make use of the inherent advantage of side wheel paddle propulsion, having the option to disconnect the clutches that connected the paddle drive shafts as one. This enabled them to turn one paddle ahead and one astern to turn and manoeuvre quickly.

During the Falklands on my ship, we combined the two dog watches into one and divided the middle between the first and morning, making a four hour dog watch and a long first and a long morning. The idea was to give us more time to sleep. Unfortunatly after the first day we tended to do shore bombardment beween 23.00 and 05.00. this ment we were always dead tired. On the morning of June the 12th we'd been awake for over twenty four hours. Then the fires had to be put out, then we resumed our watches. I didn't get my head down until the dogs on 12th of June. Then I was woken after about twenty mnuits to witness the burrial at sea of our casualties.

Re skipping cannon balls. Since I'm an ex-pat, love artillery, and have reenacted for years I ended up in an American Civil War artillery unit. They got me to do the the battery officer - yes, with my English accent, think Michael Caine complete with trukere (fly wisk). So we had a public display overlooking a large, shallow lake. The town wanted us to fire a "live" round to finish the day. So duly loaded the Napoleon with a 12pd ball. I told the gunner to fire the round with the barrel level. The round struck the water at about 450m, it then bounced about 15 times before in ploughed into the water. Something for the archaeologists to fine in due course. ;-)

I appreciate your AI response, Drach. I love falling asleep to your videos when I’m having insomnia, despite the algorithm trying to get me to listen to 3-hour AI-generated history slop instead. And I mean no disrespect by using you to fall asleep; I usually listen again after I wake up!
