The pillowcase as a buffer is the greatest suggestion ever! It works well and doesn't get bulky. My LTKR was 2 days ago. For far, not much swelling or bruising - not sure if that is coming up soon and I should be waiting for the other shoe to drop? Main thing I feel is an achey stiffness but am walking a bit each hour, icing/elevating etc

I did not know that about the compression overnight things. I wasn't sure where the main square thing should be. Will put it in the back going forward, thanks!

My Dr. doesn't allow compression hose after surgery. I do have an ice machine but typically use a large ice pack instead, mostly out of convenience. Sitting around and doing nothing seems to make my knee swell more than light activity. I usually feel my best for a few hours after therapy.

Please don’t expect your surgical site to heal in a few weeks. It takes time. Haven’t had a knee replacement but had an ankle one. 6 wks of non weight bearing with a lovely boot and knee scooter, with the first 2 weeks keeping the foot elevated and routine icing. Then a couple months of PT twice a week as we increased weight bearing. It still felt a bit “off” for several months after that. Some swelling off and on. I’m now 9 yrs post op. Ankle is perfect. Zero pain. <br>Patience everyone. You’ve had major surgery!!! Your joint has been manipulated and replaced. It takes time for your body to repair itself. Listen to it.

Im almost 10 weeks how often a day is best for swelling? Im supposed to go back to work in a couple weeks, At Walmart, there's no way Im gonna have access to any way to Ice there, maybe on lunch, & they don't have freezers in their break room. I hope I'll be passed the point of needing that during the day 🙏

I will be 4 weeks tomorrow. I had the worst swelling since the surgery yesterday. My swelling goes down overnight, but with any activity it roars back. It’s frustrating. You wanna do the exercises but you know it’s gonna swell and hurt afterwards. It’s a catch 22. I go to the gym almost daily to do my workouts and I’m probably working out too hard. I’m going to eliminate part of the protocol today and see how that works. I’ve been doing 10 minutes on elliptical, leg extensions, calf presses, glute bridges, heel slides maybe I’m doing too much

I am 6 weeks into recovery and just a short walk or a workout my knee swell up. Honestly at this point I truly don't know what to do. I am icing with frozen ice packs every 3-4 hours especially after exercising. If you have any suggestions would be appreciated. By the way thanks for the information my doctor really didn't give me any.
