Paying $4000 for a guitar that isn't a custom shop is insane

That LTD is the best pick of them all. I'm 53 have been playing for 30 years and I've never bought on for more that $500. One can always mod and customize later on like I have for decades.

Les Paul shape, black, with white contour binding. My favourite guitar design. Classy and timeless.

The best thing about a Firefly guitar is that if your mic breaks, you can sing through the pickups.

Love my Epiphone custom, plays like butter and sounds incredible. I cant imagine needing the Gibson model for 3 times the cost.

The aluminum bridge and tailpiece is a premium feature in my book, I find them to have a noticeably clearer sound with more string to string definition. So much so that I upgrade all of my tune-o-matic guitars to the higher end aluminum tone pros bridges and tailpieces and put the original ones in the case and only put the heavy dull sounding ones back on when I sell the guitars. I have multiple guitars where just changing the bridge and tailpiece to an aluminum set has removed enough muddiness from the sound that I didn't feel the need to change the pickups in those guitars anymore. If you actually price compare the aluminum tone pros bridge to the standard tone pros bridge, the aluminum one is a lot more expensive. And good quality high grade aluminum is a much better metal (in almost every application) than the cheap metal that the majority of the OEM and aftermarket tune-o-matic bridges have been made out of historically and today, even the standard Tone Pros & Schaller bridges and tail pieces are just made from zinc these days, granted it is a higher end zinc than say the stuff they would use on an inexpensive guitar. From my experience both sonically and metallurgically, going from the newer Gibson aluminum hardware to a standard aftermarket Tone Pros setup would be a downgrade and not an upgrade.

Schecher Custom Solo II should have been on this list to test. <br><br>You said it exactly right gibsons are expensive because you are paying for the brand name, its like buying a harley davidson over a japanese motorcycle when arguably japanese bikes are built better.

I read posts like "Can you play metal on a Les Paul?" Hell, why couldn't you? A slab of American mahogany with a good set of humbuckers? That's metal heaven, designed in 1952. I feel the Les Paul and the Strat and the Tele are iconic reference guitars that other manufacturers have been building off of for years.

I dont know about the new ones, but in 1981, I purchased a Gobson Les Paul Custom, for around 5000 dollars. I am now almost 74, and its still a beast, built like a tank. No guitar is built this solid, and I have owned every Gibson and Fenders made, except the Gibson fat hollow bodies, due to feedback at high volume. The guitar still looks new, except for belt buckle scratches. Amazing quality, just bought a SG standard five years ago, appearing nightly in my apartment, I love the neck, like a damn aircraft carrier, with a long landing deck!

Weird how I never talked about older generations when I was younger and neither did my friends
