Increased charge/capacity, reduction in resources necessary for manufacturing, increased longevity...it may not be a 100% full solid state, and there's always room for improvement, but looks like Quantumscape have officially opened the door to a solid state battery reality. Well done.

As an industrial maintenance technician in the automotive industry I am happy to see two cable ties holding up a pneumatic valve at 12:17.

4 February 2026: they inaugurated the “Eagle Line” pilot line and stated that upon ramp-up it will produce cells to support sampling/testing, demonstrations, and integration efforts. That wording is basically the definition of “still pre-commercial”.

Coverage around 5 February 2026 repeats the same idea: Eagle Line output is intended to be shipped to customers for sampling/testing/integration

Can’t wait to see it in a real product so we can see some real world results

I watched your video on Donut and it sounded absolutely amazing BUT they couldn't/didn't answer many of the questions that were answered with the QS battery. Either way, it is clear that we're on the verge of a battery revolution that I believe will change the world and the way we all use electricity - not just for EVs, but everything.
Great videos - keep 'em coming!

He's right, I couldn't care less if my car has a solid state battery or not if the performance is higher

this is what I was shouting at the screen during all the videos about Donut Labs: publish your patents, license your tech

This is encouraging that they are actually able to produce the cells and they meet the specs they have shown. Plus they are not hiding the fact that it still has a fluid. Hopefully they can figure out a non-flammable version.

Things QuantumScape has that Donut Labs does not:
1. Real-world performance specifications
2. Published papers and patents based upon years of research
3. Disclosed chemical processes and trade-offs
4. Disclosed manufacturing processes and trade-offs

I still hope that Donut Labs will offer some useful technology to the world and we should find out soon, but QuantumScape has made an excellent marketing decision here to allow the same social media channels that covered Donut Labs' announcement to ask the questions that Donut would not answer and to see actual batteries being made on real machines. I hope that other channels will do tours as well.

This company explains how their batteries work while Donut refuses to do the same. We don't yet know what Donut is offering, but the way that they've gone about it has not been confidence-inspiring. They may get the last laugh once their cells arrive, but it's been extremely appropriate to be skeptical until then.

It's great that they're half-way to the goal of a solid state battery, and I understand their need to start making money even though they're half way. But I hope they'll use their profits from the sale/lease of their semi-solid state battery process to reinvest in the product and continue to iterate the battery design until it's completely a solid state battery and they've reached their end goal. That would be laudable and a fantastic achievement.
