  The whole roasting thing was his act. When he wasn’t performing, Don was very kind, helping anyone who needed a hand.

  All improvised on the spot. This guy was nuts. He&apos;d roast the ass of the Mafia in his performances. Frank Sinatra, very famous singer, got into fights and he was POWERFUL. Don met him for the first time, &quot;Stand up Frank be yourself and hit somebody!&quot; Sinatra had some Mafia guys with him. Sinatra laughed his ass off. They became great friends.<br><br>He almost got hurt one time when he called a Mafia guy&apos;s girlfriend a moose. He spoke to him backstage and said, I&apos;m going to take care of this! Don had a singer-friend and a manager. Both phone-called some, let&apos;s say &quot;wise guys&quot; who called higher ranks. The next day, that man apologized. When you worked in those clubs in those days, you got to know a lot of characters, because it was their turf. They knew him very well and respected him. <br><br>Rickles and a lot of those entertainers performed at their casinos, so they brought in a lot of customers. Eventually, these places were more corporate vs. mafia owned. These guys would at least make sure you got home okay if you ran out of money.

  Getting roasted by Rickles was an honor. Kind of like Weird Al parodying your song. Rickles could get away with saying that stuff because it was all an act. He was a kind and generous man who made fun of everyone equally.<br><br>Mr. T is a rarity. Hollywood star with a clean life, zero scandals, known to be good to kids. He is an all around good and honorable man.
