I flew two tours in RVN,70-71-72 as an Army helicopter Crewchief/gunner. Last year the VA FINALLY acknowledged that I, #1-had Parkinson's disease and #2-they gave me 60% upgradable rating to my already 100% P&T PTSD. Back in 1984 I got on the VA's Agent Orange registry. At that time I was married and my wife was an RN. She kept telling me that she thought I had Parkinson's Disease. I asked to be tested, and the VA said "NO". Fast forward to the mid 2000's, I asked again to be tested for Parkinson's Disease, they sent me to a civilian DR, who was on his last day working and he retired the next day. But he did test me, he had me take off my left shoe and sock, and then he ran the head of his pen the length of my foot and declared me Parkinson's FREE.<br>Around 8 to 10 years later the VA again sent me to a civilian doctor and low and behold, HE said I had Parkinson's. I put in a claim for it, went through the C&P exam like a knife through butter and got the 60%. Today I'm filling out the paperwork for the backpay from when I had the first exam in 1984 for Parkinson's. Now I'm on 3 different meds to control the disease. Hell, I can't even play my guitars anymore, and that has been over 10 years, and the VA last year put me into a new electric wheelchair, new ramps for the house and an electric crane mounted in the bed of my pickup to I can get around easier at the VA. I will say this, the "new and improved" VA is nothing short of AWESOME. They have changed for the better and they do take great care of me. Thank you VA!!!

I contacted Hill and ponton about agent orange claim. he said they couldn’t take my claim. I put in for a claim for agent orange when I helped with reclaiming military remains in Vietnam in 1968. VA said they had no record of it so they couldn’t prove it. but the South Vietnamese army gave me a medal for helping them. I was in and out of da Nang just a couple of times, but was within 12 miles of DaNang in the Tonkin Gulf for three years.

I'm a widow of a Vietnam vet and before he died he was always saying that he had been exposed to agent orange...I wondered if I pursue claim? He served from 1967 to 1983 and he was 100percent P and T service connected

I met a man that was basically stuck to being in his bed because of Agent Orange! I was installing a satellite dish at his home and I could believe he wasn't getting the help he needed from the VA! He told me a little bit about it and I truly felt for him... Hopefully he eventually got the help he needed!
